Our Services

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body. These points correspond to pathways or meridians through which vital energy, known as Qi, flows. By stimulating these points, acupuncture aims to balance the flow of energy and promote natural healing, alleviate pain, and improve overall well-being. Megan uses five element and classical-style acupuncture, as well as cupping in her treatments.

Cupping

Cupping is a type of manual therapy that involves placing cups on skin to create suction. It is an ancient form of healing that developed alongside acupuncture to break up stagnation and reduce pain in Chinese medicine. When using glass cups, fire is used to create the vacuum but the cups do not get hot. Cups can be left stationary or moved around with a massage oil. The cups increase blood flow to the surface and may leave non-painful marks on the skin. Most people report feeling a reduction in tension with cupping therapy.

Functional Health

Functional Health is a modern-day understanding of classical Chinese Medicine. Similar to the Chinese Medicine understanding of organ systems, it investigates the digestive, hormonal, metabolic, and immune systems of the body and takes into consideration nutritive levels and ability to detox. Genetics and environment play roles in all of these systems. Both Functional and Chinese Medicine treat not only the symptoms, but look at the roots of why a person may not be functioning optimally and seek to change the misaligned pattern to prevent further disease. Functional Health consulting dives deep into an individuals systems with lab testing. This may include genetic, stool, hormonal or comprehensive blood panels. Interventions are supplemental suggestions based on clinical evidence, as well as lifestyle suggestions to improve health foundations for a holistic health solution.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on technique. It is designed to facilitate the cerebrospinal fluid flow between the brain and spinal cord, resulting in decreased pain, and better nervous system tone. For more information: https://www.upledger.com/therapies/  Both Megan and Eric use CST in their work.

SomatoEmotional Release

SomatoEmotional Release work expands on the principals of CranialSacral and is often utilized to release stuck past injuries or traumas. There may be a physical change or also an emotional release experience by this subtle yet powerful technique. SER is discussed in more detail here: https://www.upledger.com/therapies/ Eric uses SER work in combination with Internal Family Systems therapy, to help people fully integrate, become more comfortable with themselves and able to actuate more easily in the world.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems is a unique type of Mental Health talk therapy designed to help one access their core self and to integrate disparate parts of oneself. It is a non-pathologizing technique that may allow for profound insight and healing when these parts are in communication. To learn more: https://ifs-institute.com/

Frequently Asked Acupuncture Treatment Questions

Acupuncture has been known to boost your immune system, reduce pain and inflammation, improve sleep, and reduce stress. This outcomes can lead to a higher quality of life and lower incidence of disease. It is part of a holistic health solution and the ultimate self-care! For acute or ongoing issues, coming weekly or twice a week until the issue is under control is advised. Usually 12 sessions are recommended per issue. For regular maintenance, shifting to once a month or 6 weeks can keep everything going in the right direction.

Similar to a massage setting, I have all the sheets to cover and drape on my table. You can always come as you are!

I listen to your chief complaints and identify where I should place needles based on your symptoms and my observations. I will frequently take your pulse as part of your treatment. In Chinese medicine, the pulse is an important part of diagnosis. In addition to the rate and rhythm, I am feeling the pulse of the various meridians in order to further understand what needs support. I exit the room while you get comfortable on the warm table and then proceed with cupping, acupuncture and/or cranial sacral therapy depending on what you are working on.

Qi, which can also be spelled Chi (pronounced like chee), is the energy in your body. There are multiple types of Qi. What an acupuncturist does is help move or unblock stuck energy, allowing your body to be more balanced and thus also increasing the feeling of energy where it was low. While an acupuncturist is assisting, it’s your body that is making these changes! No one will be giving you energy or taking it, just helping your body process its own energy more optimally. The meridians are pathways on your body where Qi flows. Acupuncture points are generally located on these meridians

Eric Rose

While the details and circumstances of our lives are different, we all struggle with issues that often have common themes – unmet needs, loss, disconnection, uncertainty, failure, trauma, and the fear and stress associated with these. We cannot always control the circumstances in our lives but when we focus more on what we can control – such as how we relate to others, the world, and our own experience – we can greatly reduce the distress we experience and dramatically increase joy, peace, fulfillment, and our sense of meaning and purpose.

Eric works with adults who struggle with stress, relational difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, and existential and spiritual issues. His approach to therapy is grounded in the understanding that there is a healing intelligence at work in the mind/body that naturally moves in the direction of wholeness when barriers are removed. The barriers may be maladaptive beliefs, conditioned behaviors, unresolved traumas, disease, physical injuries, or nutritional deficiencies. Eric has been trained in and influenced by a number of therapeutic modalities, and finds Internal Family Systems and SomatoEmotional Release to be the most effective at helping people reintegrate and heal. He employs a number of different experiential techniques, such as mindfulness, art, and visualization.

Eric is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and graduated with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University.
